Bex (my 9 year old) told my mother about a nightmare he had last night. She said in his dream, he walked into a room that said Valentine Room on the door, and the only thing inside the room was a teddy bear and a doll seated on a chair. When he looked at them, the teddy bear moved and the doll turned her head and faced him. Fast forward to tonight when he asks me to tuck him in. He tells me he wants me to tell him a nice story for bedtime because he had a really scary dream last night. I smiled and said, Okay, sweetie. There was this boy and he was SO excited, because he was moving into a brand new house. When he walked down the hallway to see his new bedroom for the first time, he reached the door and there was a sign on it that said, Valentine Room. (His eyes are very large at this point, because he knows he didnt tell me this dream. He only told my mother.) When the little boy opened the door, he saw a teddy bear and a doll... And thats when I laughed and told him I was kidding, then told him a nice bedtime story. But man! The look on his face was priceless. Parenting sure can be fun sometimes.
