Out” Grace Slick In the 50 years since Grace’s journey into California Wonderland began with the Great Society, she has certainly been down her share of Rabbit Holes. Yet, not unlike Alice, she is still here, now creating her vision in paint instead of on the stage. For the last 20 years, Grace has been on a side trip and painting her visual version of the exciting ride through rock and roll history. Along the way she has become a world-class artist. Why doesn’t that surprise us? Great talent seems to surpass boundaries and go beyond the norm. Alas, Beyond Wonderland. In a rapidly changing world, these characters have decided that they want to go beyond Wonderland. The desire to venture out into other worlds and stories where they can befriend their fellow Animated Icons. After all, what’s so strange about Alice and the White Rabbit visiting Dorothy and Toto in OZ? In a parallel universe these Wonderland characters are in a mild state of rebellion and want to be free to mingle with others. Long a taboo, this crossover visitation represents the push for diversity and tolerance on all levels. As the Beyond Wonderland tour progresses, surely we will see the Wonderland gang popping up in some very different places, hanging out with unusual bedfellows… That’s what Beyond Wonderland is all about.
