Bhaderwah Development Authority disengages its casual labourers Behind NCs job euphoria MOHD MAJID MALIK BHADERWAH,Sept 19--On the hind side of Chief Minister Omar Abdullahs statements of creating over 80 thousand jobs for youth, the department of tourism, Bhaderwah Development Authority has ordered disengagement of casual labourers working in the department from last so many years.Omar always said , that as many as 80,000 educated youth will be provided Government jobs by fast track recruitment through service selection agencies within next some months.Scores of Casual Labourers from BDA staged protests in the premises of BDA office Bhaderwah against the Government decision to throw them out of the department without any valid reason.The protesters said that they have been working in the department from last many years and protected the BDA property from un-necessary misuse, waste and theft and blamed the Tourism Commissioner secretary for his role to disengage them from the department.We are serving in the department from last many years, but without any reason the CEO BDA disengage us, Runaz Begum , said.They said after years of service, the heads of departments were denying them work at their respective place of postings. “I was asked not to come to the office and look for some other avenues of livelihood.The protesters threatened to intensify their protests if the BDA did not change the decision of disengaging them. We will stage protests everywhere in Bhaderwah if the Commissioner secretary will disengage us from the department, the protesters said.They said on the one side state government said it will regularized all CL /daily wagers /need basis workers but on the other side are disengaging the BDA workers without any reason .The protesters said that despite tall claims of Government about the benefits generated from tourism industry for the people of State, they said, it proved hoax. I am denied work. I have already crossed the age limit and my children would die of starvation,” said Abdul Hafeez of Bhaderwah .It is a gross injustice with thousands of families and state authorities should re-look into the sensitive matter,” said Rakesh Sharma of Gatha ,Bhaderwah .They have been demanding revocation of their disengagement order. The casual labourers union appealed the Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir to look into the matter personally.However a deputation of these CL workers also met MLA Bhaderwah M S Naiz who strongly condemned the attitude of the Tourism department of the state and demanded re engagement of all workers .He also assured to CL workers that he take up the matter with Tourism Minister .Repeated attempts were made to contact Commissioner secretary Tourism Shalinder Kumar but his cell number was coming busy .
