Bharat Raksha Manch today held a protest demonstration at the Station Square, Bhubaneswar demanding the release of Sadhvi Prajna Singh Thakur from jail. The Sadhvi has been languishing in Jail since last six years. The 10th of October, the day she was arrested in 2008, is being observed as a Black Day all over India condemning the Indian Judicial system, the investigation agencies and the Human Rights Commission. Bharat Raksha Manch submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Odisha in which it called upon the Union Government and the Government of Maharashtra for immediate release of Sadhvi Prajna Singh Thakur and to acqit her from all false charges.Earlier a delegation of the Bharat Raksha Manch comprising of National Secretary Anil Dhir, me and others had met the Sadhvi in hospital at Bhopal on the 6th of October. Because of the brutal torture meted out to her, she needs support to sit, let alone walk. The torture has rendered her immobile, with half her body being paralysed. She has been languishing in Jail from the last six years without the investigating agencies being able to submit a chargesheet against her. Due to the toxicity of the repeated Narco tests, she has been afflicted with cancer. Speaking to the media I clearly said that if immediate action is not taken for the release of the Sadhvi then a nationwide agitation would be launched. Nowhere in the history of independent India has a person been subjected to such long imprisonment without trial ! That too, a women and a Sadhvi !!
