Bialeks Music 36th Birthday Celebration! The first time I was - TopicsExpress

Bialeks Music 36th Birthday Celebration! The first time I was fired was by WTA, January 10th, 1975. The second time was July 10th, 1978 by Barry Rick Associates. Thirty six years and over fifty thousand events booked later, I can say, Happy 36th Birthday, Bialeks Music, and to the bosses that fired me, May they rest in peace, BIG MISTAKE. It all started the next day, July 11th, 1978 at the tender age of 24, as I was equipped with a two-line phone, a one thousand dollar state of the art video cassette player, audio cassettes, a few band pictures (DJs werent invented yet!), a ping pong table for a desk, and tons of office supplies as my daddy was in the business. Fax machines, computers and the internet were years away. I was still playing drums in the band, Confection, so I wasnt going to starve. I need to thank my family, co-workers (even the ones that quit or I let go that now hate me), and all of my industry associates, for being there for me all these years. I have made lasting friendships with musicians, catering managers, photographers, florists, DJs, videographers, and event planners. They have voted Bialeks Music the most popular agency in the area, in Washingtonian Magazine, for eighteen years in a row and I am forever grateful. Our company awards include: Affiliate of the year from NACE, and the Presidential and Lifetime Achievements award from the International Special Events Society. I have seen our industry grow into a powerhouse in the DC/Baltimore area, and I look forward to the next thirty six years :) (or maybe ten, plus the other twenty-six sitting on a beach eating bon-bons!) I may have lost my hair, some eyesight, some hearing, and some of my youth, but the friends & experience are priceless. On another positive note, this year Jill beat breast cancer and Rickie added two more stents (for a grand total of four), but we are now a healthy happy family. To sum it all up; I did it my way and I believe it worked! Here are the current staff members of Bialeks Music and why they just love it here. Thank you so much Washington area and cheers to you! Rickie I love working at Bialeks because I let Ray think hes the boss, but lets be honest, Im the one that really runs things around here. The 90 minute lunch breaks arent bad, either. Jill Recipe for Success at Bialeks Music: 1. Know that when someone calls and asks for Raymond, that they want to sell you something. 2. Laugh at all the different ways people pronounce Bialek. 3. Know that lunch is more important than ANYTHING else that happens in our office. 4. Know that when people call and ask what is included in our DJ package, that they are looking around and want the best deal possible. 5. Noon is lunchtime. If you call us during that time, you will be told that we are in a very important meeting and will have to call you back. 6. Know that if Ray doesnt get enough likes on any given Facebook post, he will repost it the very next day and try again! 7. Know that Rays birthday celebrations really do last a month. 8. Last but not least, know that every day is an adventure! Clients excuses for why they deserve free are always entertaining! Dan A little over a decade ago, I was given the opportunity to represent one of the most well known and respected Talent Agencies in the area. It immediately shifted my dream of being in the entertainment business into high gear. This career Ive been afforded, is the best part about working here. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Ray, who started this business from the ground up 35 years ago. He didnt come from a wealthy family, and he didnt have a business partner who financed anything. It was just pure hard work. Bialeks Music started with a single band, and organically grew to be one of the top 5 largest Talent Agencies in DC. We represent some damn fine talent. Im proud to be a part of that legacy, and cant wait for the next 35 years. Also, we do lunch pretty freakin hardcore. Louise Its fun working here because you never know what youre going to get. We get calls ranging from Is this Bialeks Medical Supply? to Id like to make an appointment for a massage. Wait, this isnt Sanam Day Spa? Lunch times are fun, too. Everyone seems to call as soon as we take that first bite of our sub, but no matter how caught up we are with lunch, we always make time and work hard for all of our beloved clients. Dave I met Ray 15 years ago when he was President of ISES DC and I attended my first ISES Expo. Who would have known, that after all those years of hiring Ray, that he would ultimately hire me. Im excited to be working for one of the most respected entertainment agencies in the DC area. And, when Im out networking, its rare to meet someone who doesnt say, I know Ray. Briana We just had to save the best for last! I am the baby of the group, being that Ive only been here for a little over two months. But the amount of love and how welcoming everyone has been, I feel like I have been here forever and a week! They even accept my non-lunch eating habit and the fact that nobody can read my writing. (Im glad I can type) If thats not love, I dont know what is! I am grateful to be able to work at such an amazing company, with such an amazing entertainment selection, and an even more amazing staff! #TeamBialek!
