Bible college did this really funny thing to my brain... It forced me to stop hearing teaching for the way it tickled my ears or had the ability to make me feel good and instead forced me to evaluate it for how theologically sound it was. In all honesty, I hated it at first. Realizing that the feel good message was pervasive all over the place but the one liners and tag lines werent rooted in the word was disheartening. Bottom line. If you quote someone or something, make sure their Biblical footing is on solid ground.
