Big Money Talks: New campaign finance reports show that California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom has received over $50,000 in campaign contributions for his statewide campaigns from opponents of the Proposition B waterfront height limits measure approved by San Francisco voters and from developers still trying to build the 8 Washington Street waterfront luxury condo development San Francisco voters overwhelmingly rejected last year. Last month, a three-member state commission on which Newsom sits filed an extraordinary lawsuit against the City and County of San Francisco to invalidate the Prop B waterfront height limits measure and potentially override voter rejection of projects like 8 Washington. Waterfront advocates urged Newsom to drop the State Lands Commission lawsuit against San Francisco and said they will ask Newsom to recuse himself from future decisions impacting 8 Washington and Prop. B at the State Lands Commission meeting scheduled for next Friday, August 15 in the Bay Area. Click below to read more.
