Big Rick - Just in this afternoon from the San Jose Police Department Day Shift Officers arrests two suspects in Evergreen burglary cases. On September 12, 2014, there were eleven (11) burglaries reported in District Paul which is located near the Evergreen Area of East San Jose. In all of the cases, patrol units and/or Community Service Officers (CSO) responded and conducted an investigation. One of the cases, citizens reported suspicious activity and patrol officers were able to locate and arrest two (2) suspects. Without the citizens assistance, officers may not have located the suspects. As staffing and call volume allows, patrol units (especially those assigned to dayshift) try to be visible in the areas where burglaries are occurring. When a burglary is reported, a patrol officer or CSO responds to conduct an investigation. In three (3) of the eleven (11)cases, a CSO was able to obtain latent fingerprints, which may ultimately lead to the identification of a suspect in the crime. The investigation is active and on-going and we will provide additional information as it becomes available. The most important element of burglary suppression is citizen involvement. Citizens need to be encouraged to look after their neighbors and to report suspicious activity.
