Big Wall Science: The Lost Mountain expedition focused on being scientifically relevant and culturally impactful. In the end, the scientists left with more than 3,000 ants and 27 different herpetological species; the climbers (Majka Burhardt and Kate Rutherford) have a new route on Mt. Namuli under their belts; and the conservation team completed the first ever conservation study of the Namuli region, quite literally putting this unique mountain on the map for conservation action. With support from CEPF through our investment in the Eastern Afromontane biodiversity hotspot, Ukalene Productions LLC is coordinating and leading the inception of a long-term integrated conservation plan of Mt. Namuli and surrounding environs, one of the most significant, threatened and understudied massifs in the hotspot. Read the latest blog about the expedition at the link below.
