Congratulation to you all once again. Amar Sangno ] ITANAGAR, Jan 15: There has been a major breakthrough as the ongoing Fast Unto Death initiated by the Consultative Committee, APPSCCE (Mains) have been called off this evening, after the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission agreed to most of the demands. A massive stalemate lasted for more than a week. The APPSC have conceded to our demands and the Chairman Dr. Ligu Tacho and Member Mamang Dai have recused themselves from the entire examination process and also agreed to reset and re-conduct all of the papers in APPSCCE(M) 2013-14, said a press statement from the Consultative Committee. We are proud that we have been successful in achieving this feat through a complete non- violent mode of protest from the start till this moment, it added. The fresh exams (Mains) is likely to be held in May with all the papers reset. The irate state Civil Service aspirants were forced to take up the drastic step after terming the magisterial report inconclusive. Later, caught off guard, the government had to hand the case over to SIT. The hunger strike, started by Ujum Perying, who fasted for more than 90 hours from Jan 8 was later taken over Rajiv Gandhi University Political Science Professor, Dr. Nani Bath, All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) General Secretary Biru Nasi, Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) Chairman, Patey Tayum and Consultative Committee (CC) member Mepe Ete who had been fasting for the last four days. Chairman of the Consultative Committee Israel Perme while terming it a victory appealed to the people of the state particularly various organizations including AAPSU to continue to demand for presidential reference to make the State Public Service Commission a better and effective one. He thanked organisations, administration and media for the positive outcome of the non-violent struggle. Perme further disclosed that the donation in the form of cash and kind extended by various individuals will be handed over to Donyi Polo Mission School for Hearing Impaired and Physically Challenged. Meanwhile, APPSC Secretary, Ashok Kumar in a press comunique informed that APPSC chairman Dr. Ligu Tacho and member Mamang Dai have recused themselves from Commissions duties until the SIT investigation into the alleged question paper leak is over. He further informed that they will not involve themselves in APPSCC exams 2013-14 till the final result. The recusal issues with the assurance that there will be no legal or any other implication with negative impact on the functioning of the Commission during the absence (recusal) of the Chairman and Member, and that the work of the Commission will go on smoothly, Kumar further added. Apparently, the Commission took middle path to escape unceremonious exit as the insurmountable pressure has been building by both agitating aspirants as well as the state government for last one week.
