Big fluffy snowflakes on Christmas Eve. 100 years ago during the conflagration which forged this frakked-up world in which we now live, soldiers from the opposing armies warring in Europe spontaneously set down rifles and crossed torn, bloody fields of No Mans Land to share scant moments of peace in an unsanctioned unofficial truce. Different languages, political leanings, hate and distrust spawned by centuries of Nationalistic conditioning under the auspices of a decomposing system of rule by royalty -- such considerations were swept aside by a sense of humanity which had never glowed very brightly to begin with and was already being smothered out by Industrialized War and the desperation of Imperialism witnessing the approach of its demise. There are no living veterans of WWI, but hopefully some spark of mankinds aspirations to be something better may still glow. Heck. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all.
