Big hopes for little school PEOPLE 7 DEC 11 @ 04:00PM BY ROD BENNETT Jessica Cok (from left), 9, Tierri Furzer, 9, and Georgia Hines, 10, prepare for Charlie & The Chocolate Factory IF there were prizes for enthusiasm, then North Manly’s Toni Martelli would be a Gold Logie winner. She is the principal of the fledgling Natural Talent drama school, which operates out of the Narrabeen Tramshed Community Arts Centre. The school has only six students, but this did not deter Miss Martelli - the school will stage Charlie & The Chocolate Factory at the Star of the Sea Theatre in Manly on Saturday night. When she spoke to the Manly Daily she was in Vinnies buying props for the show. Miss Martelli is hoping to increase the class size and will run a summer school. “My students range in age from six to 10 years but Natural Talent caters for three to 18 year olds,” she said. “I just want to give these kids the best experience they could possibly have.” Miss Martelli has television dreams of her own, but in the meantime, she is working another job to pay for her school. She said the school offered a one-year course and at the end each child would receive a trophy and certificate. “To fit with the Charlie theme we are raffling off a 10kg block chocolate on the night for someone to take home,” she said. “There are other prizes too.” SHOW YOUR SUPPORT * Charlie & The Chocolate Factory is at the Star of the Sea Theatre, Eurobin Ave, Manly, on Saturday 10/12 at 7pm * Tickets $20, concession $15, children $10 * For more information call 0414 269 162
