Big new report from the OECD about the future of the world economy - TopicsExpress

Big new report from the OECD about the future of the world economy for the next fifty years. Pretty grim reading. Summary of some important points: -the world still hasnt recovered from the last financial crisis -the problems that drove the crisis havent been fixed and are unlikely to go away -economic growth across the world is likely to slow down significantly -inequality is going to increase -international tax evasion is going to become more widespread and harder to combat -global CO2 emissions are going to double -the countries that are going to be most badly affected by global warming over the next fifty are in Africa, the Middle-East and South Asia. i.e. the countries that are producing most of the CO2 are not going to feel the consequences for a long time, i.e. they have no incentive to change And they concede that many of the assumptions that underly these projections might be optimistic and they havent included a lot of factors that could give significant negative feedback. This is nothing like a worst case scenario.
