Big talking point this morning. The government is considering lifting the retirement age to 70. With Australias ageing population, trust me, this will happen, and it will only get worse. In the new world, no government will be able to sustain the growing cost of our pension system, look at Greece, it has sent that country broke, and I cant see them ever recovering. Pretty soon theyll be telling us it is now compulsory to work for 7 years after youre dead. I feel extraordinarily lucky, in my mid 50s and a self funded retiree. I will never collect any kind of a pension, and Im so glad I wont have to, dont want it. The secret is, go hard early, and get a wonderful financial plan, and stick to it for forty years. Its all bout discipline.
