Bill Medley William Thomas Bill Medley (b. September 19, 1940) was born in Los Angeles, California. He started his singing career in the late 50s. He sang in a vocal group The Paramours which had 3 singles out in 61-62. In 62, Bill began a singing duo with Bobby Hatfield. In a couple of years they had established themselves as The Righteous Brothers, the leading duo along with The Walker Brothers. Their biggest hit was Youve lost that Lovin Feelin in 64, produced by Phil Spector. The following year was rewarded with another hit, Unchained Melody. Bill also wrote some of their songs and took over as a producer. After the breakup (68), they returned with a hit Rock and Roll Heaven (74). Medleys solo career was far more modest (albeit fruitful), although he was The Voice of the duo. Some hits followed though, and the greatest moment for him may be the number one (Ive had) The Time of My Life (87) he had with Jennifer Warnes. It was heard in the movie Dirty Dancing. ”Prison break” is a fast paced doowop song done with similar style as The Coasters used to do. Lyrics deal with a prison break gone wrong in the end. It was released as a B side in March 1961.
