Billy Connolly?? Most satisfying footie result of the year 2013???!!! A very surprising one, that I hoped, but never expected might happen, for deliciously nutty number nerdy reasons!! On 14th Dec, looking through football tables, noticed QPR had Goals For, Goals against and Points stats of 24 10 42. This got me thinking. Being a fan of palindromes , both literary and numerical and being aware that Billy Connollys birthdate was palindromic 24.11.42, I realised this QPR stat was just one little tweak away from becoming the actual proper palindromic comedy stat of the year and matching Billy Connollys Palindromic birthdate, born 24th Nov, 42. Looked at fixtures for the next week and mused how wonderful and whacky it would be, if Leicester City could actually go to Loftus Road and come away with a 1.0 win to make my desire for whacky stat dream come true. I, of course dismissed it as pretty unlikely, but even thought of sending a silly email to Leicester City FC, saying Come on guys, heres some extra motivation for you. Do the business, please, a 1.0 win at QPR. But blow me down, next weekend they did just that and I got my favourite whacky truly palindromic footie stat of the year; QPRs For, Against and Pts stats for Saturday evening 21st December 2013 24...11...42 QPR werent happy! Brilliant !!! Well done Leicester. Just wish Id thought to risk a tenner on that specific score because I wanted it so much. I almost feel I wished it to happen.
