Bingo, Guide Dog Puppy Diary 2/01/15 Happy New Year everybody! Another week has gone by and yet more experiences to report. Saturday himself and herself took me down to the Ferry in the morning for a walk around practicing the kerbs and as usual we ended up having coffee this time in Wetherspoons. The staff are really nice there and the manager came across for a big chat and cuddles. Sunday is hill walk day and YES I was taken with daughters dog Mylo to Lundie Craigs at Newtyle with himself and other friends. This was a great walk starting out along the disused railway track which is maintained by volunteers. Great to see what local children have done to decorate the verges. We then climbed up through the woods onto the open moorland and Mylo and myself had fun leaping through the gorse and skidding on the ice. Then another human appeared in his 4 x 4 and seemed angry. Himself said this was the gamekeeper and picked up comments like Get your dogs under control and Put them on the lead. Now it is not often that I praise himself but this time he calmly explained that Mylo and myself were trained to the whistle and could be retrieved straight away if we got near sheep or pheasants. Mylo and myself sensed that it would be good to sit and wait patiently while this was going on. The gamekeeper suddenly became friendly and started asking lots of questions about guide dogs. Bit of a mistake on his part as himself can go on and on about The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (UK). Anyways the humans parted good friends, the gamekeeper even said Have a good walk and off we went up another hill and back through more woods. Mylo and I agreed it was excellent walk. Monday was a bit tired so had a snooze in the morning and himself and herself took me to visit the other daughters dog Sophie at lunch time. We had a great time charging about the garden and the house. In the afternoon was taken to Barnhill shopping centre where the humans bought nibbles for the New Year. Tuesday himself wanted to return some clothes to Marks and Spencers, think he has put on a bit of weight though he claims the sizes have changed! We went on the bus to Dundee and customers made a big fuss of me while we queued at the returns counter. Himself was at it again going on about Guide Dogs! Wednesday himself and herself decided it was time for more public transport practice and we went on the bus to Dundee and then the train to Perth. Well I can tell you the gap between the train and the platform is quite a challenge! Himself was very encouraging and had a biscuit ready once I stepped from and into the train. Best not to look down I find. We visited some shops in Perth and you guessed it stopped for coffee this time at Reids. Excellent homemade crumbs here (once the humans werent looking off course!). Thursday was my first New Years day and all the humans family arrived which meant I could play with Mylo and Sophie for the afternoon while the humans eat and drank. Seemed to be a lot of drinking today they must have been very thirsty! Friday himself and herself decided to go out for lunch and they took me to House of Bruar near Blair Atholl. Himself is very partial to the fresh cut roasts there. All I can say is that it all smelt wonderful. It was very busy and I upset himself trying to sneek all the tit bits that were lying on the floor! He said that we will have to work on this, which is a bit worrying. Anyways I met a lovely guy called Donald and his family at the next table. Hullo Donald if you are reading this, thanks for all the strokes and tickles. The staff are really nice there too, many stopping to chat and give me a cudlle (after asking off course). Great snooze on the way home in the car dreaming of what next week may bring. I know something different is going to happen as herself said we were going somewhere and I would have to be on my best behaviour????????????????
