Biography Cyprian Montrope is a public officer employed with the Government of Saint Lucia attached to the Inland Revenue Department from 1990 to present day. He is a seasoned tax inspector having worked in almost all sections of the Department. He is currently the president of the Inland Revenue Sports Club. He has represented the club at many events during their Regional Revenue Games which has its venue in a different Caribbean territory every Easter. He joined the CSA in 1994 and has since served in the capacity of Shop Steward from 2000 to 2003. During his tenure as Shop Steward he was awarded shop Steward of the year for dedicated work in 2002. In 2003 he was elected as Treasurer and remained in that position until 2007. In 2007 he was elected as a trustee and served until 2009. In 2011 he was elected as 2nd Vice President and is still serving in that capacity. He is currently serving as the Vice President of an umbrella body representing most trade unions in Saint Lucia, the Saint Lucia Trade Union Federation (TUF) with specific responsibility for education. He has organized training workshops for the Federation with the assistance of the International Labour Organization (ILO). He served as Treasurer of the TUF from 2006 to 2011. He has gained significant knowledge in trade unionism from training locally, regionally and internationally. Due to the training and his commitment to both organization and the development of people he has served on a number of committees including “Public Sector Reform”, “Wages and conditions of work negotiating team”, “Labour Code consultation”, “Member of National Competitiveness and Productivity Council”, “member of Affordable Housing for Public officers”, “Trade Licence Board, Chairperson of CSA constitution Review committee” to name a few. Bro. Montrope holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA). He was awarded the distinction of “magna cum laude” at the completion of his BBA. During his two years of completing his undergraduate degree he was successful in being on the presidents list for almost all of his semesters. During the 1990’s Bro. Montrope served his community Laborie, by engaging in many organized community projects on behalf of his sports club “Flamboyant Youth and Sports Club”. This included cleanup campaigns, fencing projects, repainting of a church etc. He served as president of this sports club for over seven years. He is also a parent; a proud father of two children, Cyprian Montrope Jr. and Brianna Montrope both attending secondary school. His daughter Brianna was the top performer at the common entrance exam at her school in 2013.
