Black Stars appearance fees slashed to $5000 The Black Stars of Ghana could see their earnings slashed by more than half if a proposal by the Ministry of Youth and Sports is approved. Allsports.gh understands that the Ministry has proposed a flat match appearance fee of $5000 dollars per game for the AFCON in Equatorial Guinea irrespective of the outcome or stage of a tournament the team get to;meaning the most each player could make is $30,000 if the team reaches a final. Players of the national team of Ghana are among the best paid on the continent,earning $10,000 per match and also earn qualification bonuses. The new proposal also includes a $60,000 reward if the team wins the tournament. Allsports.gh also understands the ministry and the Ghana Football Association have held extensive discussions over the new pay structure as both parties seek to avoid a repeat of the embarrassing situation that headlined Ghanas participation at the World Cup in Brazil when players revolted over delays in the payment of their appearance fees.
