Black Violin Performance: Tickets Available for Friday Morning Performance (Flushing, Queens) – While the Black Violin performance on Saturday has sold out, Flushing Town Hall is making a small number public tickets available for this Friday morning’s educational presentation. The balcony seats for the 10:00 AM performance can be purchased for $10 apiece by contacting the Box Office at (718) 463-7700 ext. 222 or [email protected]. Note that the show is designed to educate and enlighten school students, so its content will vary from the general public show. Friday morning’s performance will be about 50 minutes long, followed by a brief question and answer session with the artists. Black Violin is comprised of American hip-hop duo Kev Marcus and Wil B, who are classically trained string instrumentalists who meld highbrow and pop culture, Brandenburg and breakdown, into a single genre-busting act, a groundbreaking blend of classical, hip-hop, rock, R&B, and even bluegrass music. Kev Marcus (violin) and Wil B (viola) play tunes from their second CD, Classical Trained, which cleverly features smooth verses and symphonic hooks underscored by an array of rhythmic grooves, ranging from pop-rock cadences to trunk rattling bass. Armed with stage experiences with Alicia Keys, Mike Shinoda, and Gym Class Heroes, this promising group is stretching the fabric of how music is interpreted. Add the spellbinding vocals of Wil B and the innovative approach to the violin and you are sure to be taken on an incredible journey.
