Black people (read African-Caribbeans) in Britain should pool - TopicsExpress

Black people (read African-Caribbeans) in Britain should pool their money together... Of course, we should still try things but we should not expect miracles... I think that it is more than likely that our communal finances in the UK will be equal to global financial inequities which might mean that we are not going to be like Indians or Chinese minority communities or even other African communities like the Nigerians or Ethiopians. I think that we do not have the buying power to get products as cheap as other communities, we are a consumer on the micro and macro level. We would get products but we would struggle to buy in as much bulk in order to keep the prices low. Alot of these shops are connected and buy together so we would struggle unless we were willing to pay extra to support the race. A million is not much these days... The militant leader of ISIS the Islamic terror organisation quoted that he had 1 billion in the bank and was ready for war, that is more of a person who can do things. Millionaires dont have the finance to leave behind big legacys, they would struggle to leave something behind for all family members, I think that is why people just think for themselves as they would rather have something for their children than have their money in a risky business or an ideal that could be doomed to failure. I think we spend because we cant do much more. We can afford the £10,000 for a car but not the millions it takes to build even a small business these days. The hair care business is probably the biggest sector that African-Caribbean people are engaged in but it is saturated, it is not a way to become rich but just a means of survival, it is even near to a cleaner level of wages... I think that our community is just in a bind. It is not our fault, it is just the world. It is frustrating to be part of such a small group of people without any power in the world. It is easy to blame each other in our frustration too, but I think we need to have a long look at this. India has like 1 billion people and China is more, but Jamaica is 2 million? How could we win? Even if we came together as CARICOM we would be 40 million, how could we win or be competitive? We are faced with the choice either accept the West and just be British and try our best to be good coconuts or become Pan-African so we have something bigger to be involved with in a black context and a more realistic route to power.
