Blackhat unintentionally emphasizes the problem with making a crime thriller related to cyber terrorism, As scary as the reality of cyber terrorism is, it is not particularly cinematic. Using CGI to attempt to depict what is happening inside a compute as malware attacks, despite the efforts to do so here, isnt the answer, unfortunately. And although it is kept to a minimum here, watching people sitting at a computer doesnt match anyones idea of thrilling. As such, many standard thriller tropes including guns, knifes and explosions are inserted to keep the viewer interested. Unfortunately, between the excessive length and the wooden acting of Chris Hemsworth, nothing really helps. The concept here was intriguing, but the execution is flat.
