Andries, a renowned and seasoned winemaker has 23 vintages at Rooiberg Winery as well as Swartland Winery. Andries rather large stature is matched by his passion for crafting extraordinary wines. Cultivar wines, such as Pinotage might be added to Blake Family Wines range at a later stage, but blends will remain the flagship wines of Blake Family Wines. Marinda has extensive experience in the wine industry, having worked in public relations, and as media liaison at prominent wine estates such as Graham Beck Wines, De Wetshof Wine Estate and Bovlei Winery. Limited quantities are available from the maiden vintage as only 450 cases of the Tourmaline 2013 and 295 cases of the Amethyst 2011 were bottled. The grapes for the wines derive from the heart of the Swartland. Andries spent 19 years in the Swartland, and knows where to source the best grapes. The Tourmaline and the Amethyst blends are crafted and nurtured to capture what nature has provided; the unique taste of the Swartland grapes. “We perceive our wines as family gems and we treat them as such”, says Marinda.
