Blending MVP: Week 7 [Journal Excerpt] Day 1 – Today I - TopicsExpress

Blending MVP: Week 7 [Journal Excerpt] Day 1 – Today I continued with more tasks. I feel like I am really getting the hang of how to facilitate the MVP (Mathematics Vision Project) tasks. I got to sign 2 more students out of lunch study hall today also so that was really exciting. They sure don’t enjoy lunch study hall but when they get signed out you can see the accomplishment on the faces now that they have a great grade in my class. Day 2 – I was out of class this day for an emergency but the content drove the class for the students. I was really excited. Whenever I am gone I print paper versions of the assignment. I don’t want my sub to have to keep track of all of my devices and other tools so this seems to work better. I also plan in time when I get back for students to reengage the portal so they can enter the answers from their paper worksheets. Day 3 – I was gone again. For the second day in a row I came in and put notes on the board at 5:30 am and again the content drove things for my students! Day 4 – The kids had seen a lot of content without me by this point so I did some review, which was great because they knew exactly where they were lacking knowledge so they could ask really specific questions. I added a little more to the assignments from the week and the kids went for it. Day 5 – Green Ticket Day! Our principal has us give out green tickets to all of our students who didn’t have any absences and who have all their assignments in for the week. It was fun to stay right on my Brainhoney screen and monitor kids, cheering them on as they worked towards earning their ticket for the week. These tickets are entered into a drawing each month.
