Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me Bless His Holy Name. Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not His blessings and faithfulness. A blessed and joyful thanksgiving day to all my friends particularly in the USA and at St. Johns Episcopal Church New Haven, CT. I did not realise what an important and significant day this is in the calendar out here in the USA. My education continues! Thanksgiving day is much more than a religious festival in the USA. It transcends all religious and ethnic boundaries. In the early years it was the prayer of gratitude to God for His Presence, faithfulness in protecting and providing for the early pilgrim fathers and settlers. It soon became an occasion for all immigrants to the USA to look back with gladness at how fortunate and blessed they felt in terms of journey mercies, gainful employment, and relative prosperity for many. A land of opportunities. Today it is much more an occasion for families to come together for renewed fellowship and celebration. This period is probably the busiest travel period within the USA probably akin to the New year in China. I am very conscious that my wife and children are not with me in the USA but I am looking forward to seeing them all soon. I am also mindful of the many people who have no family are very lonely and isolated for all sorts of reasons. Spare a thought for those who have little to celebrate and no sense of family or friends to relate to or fellowship with. Remember those in hospitals, in prison and on the streets enduring the cold and the damp. Try and invite one stranger to your family festivities this thanks giving day it is never too late. May be a telephone call to someone you care for and have lost touch with. Make a difference to some one today! I will be sharing a thanksgiving meal with Brian and Care Spinks and then later in the evening with my cousin Prema Mathai-Davis and her family. May God bless each one of you with His joy, His Presence and Peace this thanksgiving day. Remember to count your many blessings and learn to name them one by one. I want to use this opportunity to thank all my family and my many friends all over the world for the blessing, support and encouragement you have been to me.
