Blsd Saturday family. There is a famous song that talk abt Paul and Silas who prayed in prison and the doors of prison were opened. When one read the account of the story hmm the song has so many gaps surely. Acts 16:11-34 Paul and Silas were on a missionary journey and they found themselves in Philipi one of the major city in Macedonia. One dy Paul casted out an evil spirit of divination from a slave girl and this brought anger from the owners of this slave girl coz they were making money out of her. The events led to an uproar and Paul and Silas were thrown in prison after being throughly beaten and flogged. Brothers I want u to take notice of something here mostly the words that are describing the situation. Philipi was a roman colony and it meant the laws of rome were enforced and if its recorded that they were severely beaten and flogged this was no small matter remember its the same romans who flogged and beat Jesus Christ leading to his crucification. So we can now see a picture of Paul and Silas in wounds and pain thrown in a dark dungeon, they had done Gods will of casting out evil spirits yt found themselves in prison. At midnight we ar told they started praying and signing hymns to God while other prisoners were listening. Wait a minute and pause and look at the scenario, here ar two men in chains, painsn blood coming out of the wounds, they ar talking to each other and as they exchanged their conversations they agreed and say hey brother Silas I know how u feel I can see the wounds on your body jst as u can see the wounds on my body, remember we ar suffering for Christ, we hv saved a little girl out there and surely pple hv seen the power of God at work and definately others have believed in Jesus, why then dont we pray to God thanking Him for what happened today and sing hymns of victory to Him. Then Silas agreed and said yes yes yes brother Paul lets go for it and immediately they raised their voices to God and its recorded that other prisoners listened. Heaven cudnt resist the sacrifices of sweet prayer and praise that was coming to the thrown and it had to respond, God showed up and there was great earthquake that caused the foundation of the prison to be shaken, all doors to be opened and every chain broken from every prisoner, hey hey that was something else. Surely those prisoners who were listening to the prayers and songs of the apostles they experienced the manifestation of this Great God. As we continue to read u wl discover that al what happened led to the salvation of the jailers family and this happened btwn midnight and before sunrise. Lets face it brothers if it were us tody cud we hv responded the way these two men did? Surely we cud hv said I hv quit, why shd I suffer for commiting no crime afteral am doing Gods work. I hv learnt that serving God does not exempt us from suffering and at times we nd to go thru that process to reach out to others, imagine if they had chosen to unforgive the jailer surely his family cud not hv bn saved. There ar times we meet pple who hurt us most bt these pple greatly nd what we have so we nd to look past their action towards us and save them. When we ar in the will of God He acknowldges our honest, pain and our respond to our situation and He acts in ways we dont understand. Just like paul and silas who used prayer and praise to touch heaven in a painful moment let us too use the same tools and watch heaven act, remember u ar not alone in prison other prisoners ar listening bt what matters most is what ar they going to hear from your mouth, is it your pains or its abt your God who is a solution to your pains. Amen
