Blue Jasmine (USA 2013) Blue Jasmine is an American comedy drama film written and directed by Woody Allen, which stars Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin and Sally Hawkins. The story takes place in San Francisco and tells the life of a rich Manhattan girl falling into poverty and homelessness. Jasmine (Blanchett) is a very talkative and conniving person with an histrionic personality, when she goes on bankrupt she decide to move to her sister Ginger’s apartment. She decided to start a new life forgetting the past, but constantly drawn back into her expensive habits. She considers becoming independent but she really has no skills at all. Her situation improves when she meets a rich widower man. Jasmine lies him about her past life, but throughout the time he realized that she had cheated him and broke their relationship. In my opinion, the film is skilfully taken by the director and actors in order to show the story of a girl with psychiatric problems that face adversities in a wrong way with terrible results. The problem is not the way she resolves problems, is the fact that nobody understand how difficult is to cope with adversity for psychiatric patients. Very good film, highly recomended.
