Blue Mountains City Council Bushland Reserves Walking Tracks, Lookouts & Camping Areas Issued: Friday 25th October 2013 - 9:30am B U S H F I R E A D V I C E Due to current bushfire activity in the Blue Mountains the following bushland reserve and walking track network closures have been put in place. Some bushland reserves and walking tracks have now been reopened. The public are reminded that several large fires are still burning in the Blue Mountains. This should be considered when thinking about coming to the Blue Mountains. Council’s concern for public safety is paramount. Picnic areas, parks and open space adjacent to bushland areas current status is listed. Please observe local conditions and on-site signage. Due to the current bushfire activity, the public is advised to: Restrict access to identified listed reserves Regularly access public broadcasts on ABC radio (AM 702) or other media to keep up to date on fire incidents and bushfire status Restrict bushwalks to the urban ridge-top reserves (i.e. top of the escarpment), taking short walks only Ensure others are notified of your destination, planned route and return time Ensure adequate communication is available (i.e. be within mobile reception range) Comply with the Total Fire Ban declaration All visitors are reminded that the NSW Fire Commissioner has declared a Total Fire Ban until further notice and that fires are not permitted during Total Fire Bans Further information: Council and Crown reserves contact Blue Mountains City Tourism information line 1300 653 408 National Parks and NPWS reserves - NPWS Heritage Centre on 4787 8877 (9:00am to 4:30pm).
