Blue Ribbon Satyricon—a blue ribbon eel reaches out to ask: “Why must Nordstrom keep captive animals in its Children’s Departments in 83 stores across 35 states?” Any fish on display is a gateway species. Nordstrom takes the “educational” defense, as if animal cruelty, mortality, morbidity and habitat destruction are a fair price to pay. But it’s not fair or smart. Far more drama, color and social contact are in video/photography. Trafficking in marine wildlife for amusement/profit is a dark pursuit with perilous potential. An aquarium trade SUSTAINABILITY outfit has a video of an Asian collector setting a noose on a blue ribbon eel hole, then snagging the eel and stuffing it into a sandwich bag. Ribbon eels are 1” thick & 3-5’long. The collector got pennies. The end use buyer paid $110. Many eels die in capture & transit. The rest die soon after. The Nordstrom woman said, “No! Don’t send that? I won’t look at that!” PLEASE SHARE PLEASE EMAIL: blake.nordstrom@nordstrom, todd.buntin@nordstrom, [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] Tell Nordstrom to remove the dark presence from the Children’s Departments. Animals on display are gateway species. TAKE DOWN THOSE AQUARIUMS!
