Blues Trail international marker unveiled JACKSON, Miss. -- Mississippis second international Blues Trail marker was unveiled Monday in Cahors, France. Malcolm White, director of Visit Mississippi, and Robert Terrell, director of operations at the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center, joined local officials for the unveiling. The event took place just before the opening of the 33rd Annual Cahors Blues Festival. White says in a news release that France has played an important role in blues history ever since the jazz craze of the 1920s. French enthusiasts spurred international interest in black American music by releasing records, and arranging tours. The Cahors Blues Festival, first staged in 1982, built upon the long tradition by presenting hundreds of musicians, including many from Mississippi. The first international marker was placed in Notodden, Norway in 2012.
