Blues vocalist Lil Green was born on this day in 1919 in Clarksdale, MS. Green began her snging career in the church in Clarksdale before moving to Chicago in the 30s. She teamed up with Big Bill Broonzy and they played as a duo in clubs. Green wrote her first hit Romance in The Dark, which was a national hit for the Bluebird label. She followed it with a Joe McCoy song Why Don`t You Do Right. She moved to NYC and enjoyed a successful career, recording for RCA, Alladin, and Atlantic.
