Blyth supporter clocks up 1,500 consecutive games. Sunday’s FA Cup 1st Round tie with Altrincham will mark a milestone for lifelong supporter Jeff Young, it will be his 1,500 consecutive game. Jeff’s staggering run goes all the way back to 1987 without missing a single game, the last game Jeff missed was on 27th January 1987 an away game at Bath City that 640 mile round trip was the only game that season. Jeffs run started on Saturday 31st January 1987 with a Senior Cup Quarter Final defeat to North Shields, his truly remarkable run includes clocking up a 500 mile round trip to Worcester for a midweek replay and even a 428 mile round trip to Corby for a midweek league game that was abandoned due to fog with Blyth 0-2 down !. In those 27 years Jeff has not just watched the team in action he has given up his time to help the club behind the scenes, spending 10 years on the Supporters Club Committee and serving a couple of years on the Executive Committee. In 2004 he accepted an offer to become clubs match secretary, a position he held until 2012 when he became the club’s kit man. Utmost respect and credit goes to Jeff for his unrivalled dedication to the club.
