Boko Haram Bomb Police Station, Open Fire On Residents In Borno Suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded Shani Local Government Area of Borno State and bombed the Divisional Police Headquarters at about 2.45pm on Monday, June 30. BREAKING NEWS: Boko Haram Bomb Police Station, Open Fire On Residents In Borno Heavily armed Boko Haram militants occupied the town, shooting sporadically, burning houses, shops and vehicles. After setting ablaze the police station, the gunmen opened fire on residents. They also attacked the palace of the newly appointed Emir of Shani, Alhaji Sanusi Mailafiya, in search of the Chairman of the council, Alhaji Madu Walama, said to be hiding in the palace. Shani is about 245 kilometres from Maiduguri and is a border town between Borno and Adamawa States. More details soon.. Earlier a massive attack by suspected Boko Haram members was launched in Kautikari, Kwada and Nguragila villages near Chibok in Borno State in the morning of June 29, 2014, Sunday, killing at least 56 people and burning down several houses. On 14 May 2013, President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in Borno State, along with neighboring Adamawa State and Yobe State, due to Boko Haram increasingly violent campaign to overthrow the government and create an Islamic state.
