Boko Haram: Nigeria Military imposes 24-hour curfew on Yobe The curfew was imposed because of a Thursday night attack ON Damaturu. The military on Friday imposed a 24-hour curfew on Yobe following attacks on Damaturu, the state capital, by suspected insurgents on Thursday night. This is contained in a statement signed by Capt. Eli Lazarus, spokesman of the 3 Division Special Operations Battalion, Damaturu. “The 3 Division Special Operation Battalion, Damaturu, hereby imposes a 24-hour curfew across Yobe state, with immediate effect. “Law-abiding citizens are enjoined to remain calm as the battalion steps up its operation to rid the state of insurgents,” he said. Yobe is one of the three states under emergency rule, the others being Borno and Adamawa. The government imposed the emergency rule, and increased military deployment there, in order to check the activities of members of the Boko Haram and other terrorist groups. Source.
