#Boniyar_News_27×7 Vacant posts of teachers, lecturers referred to recruiting agencies: Mar 04: Minister of State for School Education Feroz Ahmad Khan replying to a question by Jahangir Hussain Mir informed the House that Rs. 11259.65 lakh have been spent covering 22,733 institutions and benefitting 11,07,737 students during 2012-13 and Rs. 5869.60 lakh was incurred during and 2013-14 covering 22,965 institutions and 11,01,502 students in Mid-Day-Meal scheme. The Minister said that 526 Middle Schools have been upgraded to the level of High Schools from its inception and 306 existing HS/HSS have been covered for additional accommodation under strengthening component of RMSA. He said that against a target of 7008; as many as 6834 primary schools have been upgraded so far under SSA. He further told that 10712 Primary Schools against a target of 10809 have been opened under SSA The Minister further said that under teacher education, the teacher Education Appraisal Board (TEAB) approved an amount of Rs. 2501.16 lakhs (Rs. 1875.88 lakhs as Central Share and 625.28 lakhs as State Share) during the current financial year 2013-14, while as out of the said amount, the Union Government has released an amount of Rs. 937.94 lakhs as first installment as Central Assistance which has been submitted to the Finance Department for credit confirmation, the Minister added. Feroz said 8028 posts of teachers are presently available under direct recruitment quota and have been referred to J&K SSRB for selection of suitable candidates and 2910 posts of Lecturers are presently vacant that includes both promotion and direct quota, 621 posts of Lectures under direct quota have been referred to PSC for selection of suitable candidates. North-South Corridor widening work progressing: Ajaz Rising Kashmir News Jammu, Mar 04: Minister of State for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Ajaz Ahmad Khan replying to a question by S Bashir Ahmad Veeri informed that construction work for widening of North South Corridor of National Highway 1- A from Lakhanpur, Kathua to Parimpora, Srinagar is going-on and is being executed by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Border Road Organization (BRO). The Minister informed that the widening work on the stretch from Lakhanpur to Jammu (Kunjwani) has been completed, while as the work on Jammu- Udhampur road stretch is in progress and is expected to be completed by December this year. The construction work on Udhampur- Cheneni road stretch is to be started, while as the work on Chenani- Nashri tunnel is going on in full swing and is expected to be completed by May, 2016, the Minister added. Ajaz informed that the work on Ramban- Banihal section has not been taken up yet as the approval for the said stretch is pending with the Union Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways. He said as far as Banihal and remaining part of National Highway in Kashmir Division is concerned, there are two stretches namely Banihal- Srinagar and Srinagar- Uri which are being executed by NHAI and BRO respectively. The work on Banihal- Qazigund Tunnel is in progress and is likely to be completed by June, 2016. The Minister said that the land for construction of road between Qazigund – Srinagar stands handed over to NHAI. The work on the said stretch is in progress and is expected to be completed by the end of 2014, he added. The work on Parimpora, Srinagar to Baramulla has not been taken up yet as no indent has so far been received by the Collectors concerned for acquisition of Land, the Minister said, adding that the work on Baramulla- Uri stretch is going-on as the land for the purpose stands handed over to the executing agency by the concerned Collector. Ajaz said that as many as 33 chinar trees were coming under the alignment in Anantnag District, of which 18 have been felled down so far.
