( Bookie offered Afridi & junior Akmal to fix one-day matches against England but both refused and reported to PCB & ICC ) Pakistan duo Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal both turned down offers to fix one-day matches during England’s tour of the UAE in 2012, it has been claimed. Both were approached separately about rigging the series, which England won 4-0, but immediately refused to get involved and reported the approaches. Afridi, 34, said: It happened during that period and the person got the appropriate reply from me. The Sun reports that a source close to the Pakistan team added: Shahid was approached by a gentleman in the lobby of the team hotel, but didn’t hang about to hear how much they were offering. As soon as he realised match-fixing was on the cards he left, before reporting it to the team management and the ICC anti-corruption unit. Players know what they have to do — there are no excuses.
