“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” ― Charles William Eliot The sad part is that I discovered this fact after almost two decades of slogging over exams and realizing that ultimately marks didnt matter, lessons did. A Big Hug and Thank you to Nandini , Shefali , Manisha , Sangita , Soumya , Ankita and Manisha ( the lady with the locks ) for adding vibrancy to my To be Read list through their awesome reads and for nominating me for this challenge which has made my confused mind even more confused. So here goes my list. #1 My English Text Books From School : The books that have aged with me and our relationship has been like the sugar in the coffee, becoming sweeter with each passing day. #1 The Digital Fortress and Angels and Demons by Dan Brown : Two amazing and simply unputdownable books. I really hope that you didnt notice the #1 twice :P #2 The Night Train at Deoli by Ruskin Bond I may stop loving you but I will never stop loving the days I loved you. This book is sheer magic, it is like that dairy milk which melts in your mouth before you finally gulp it down. Simple words, vivid images and an eternal experience. #3 The Catcher In Rye by J D Salinger : This book has cracked me into an endless laughter while traveling in a crowded bus , much to the horror of my co passengers. It has literally grown in me and I absentmindedly use the word phony quite often almost like Holden Caufield, the narrator. #4 Many Bodies Same Soul by Dr.Brain Weiss A book that brought in a paradigm shift in my perspective to look at life and death. Living and dying is a process of the soul changing its clothes. Due to ignorance, we humans take this seriously and become oblivious of the lessons of love we are supposed to learn here. #5 The Secret by Rhonda Byrne A book that governs my life as a whole. Simple three words which it has taught me are Thoughts Become Things #6 The Indigo by Satyajit Ray Mind numbing, brilliant, heart wrenching and an ultimate classic. This book has left a talkative Libra like me speechless with its beauty. #7 Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom My current read and a book that echoes within me. Lifes greatest lessons, delivered with such ease. #8 The Chicken Soup Series The Series that strengthens the belief within me that the good things in the world always outshine the bad. #9 Short Stories by Leo Tolstoy , Guy de Maupassant , Oscar Wilde and Rabindranath Tagore The writers who always show and dont just tell. My revered masters. #10 Steal like an Artist : Originality is undiscovered plagiarism, An amazing book that teaches one how to steal, in a good way. PS : This list is completely incomplete :P A special mention to Speech and Silence, Wise and Otherwise, Think like Da Vinci, The Happiness Project, Go Kiss The World and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Thus I pass the baton to Hriday Ranjan , Milan Sen , Sompa Malakar, Anita Dash , Satabdi Mishra, Vibek Kumar Sarangi, Debanjan Chakravorty , Manisha Dalabehera and Mitra Samal to share their respective lists :) My bibliographic tendency helped me welcome 32 amazing books in my humble bookshelf. My dream is to beam with joy after getting a 100. So sometime from now , let us have a 100 book challenge :D What Say?
