Books of 2014: The Innocence of Father Brown by G.K. Chesterton. Ive read Chestertons non-fiction but never his detective stories. I love them to pieces. Dark, witty little exercises in style and theology. And once you read any G.K. Chesterton you realize how often he is quoted and/or shamelessly ripped off in the guise of homage- most recently the whole Sherlock waiter shtick in The Empty Hearse. I guess Mark Gatiss just got tired of bludgeoning the substance out of Arthur Conan Doyles stories and decided to liven things up by diminishing the works of another great author!
