Boom Time If there were a day when time did not exist No days, no hours, no minutes, no seconds Boom and you are blind because you cannot See the clock ticking but you can hear it Until the batteries run out or the power fails And your old reliable watch fell into the dishwater Silence from time is a scary thing until you Remind yourself that you are free of time And you become grateful that you never knew The sixth or seventh day of creation or rest That forty days and nights are but time in the past That Lent is not for giving up but for giving to That Christmas is not for the taking but for the giving And you become grateful that you never knew That time was a made up things and calendars Nothing to follow except for the pictures Of the first creatures created before man Destroyed them after God created them And you become grateful that you never knew Boom you are blind and deaf and dumb To the Garden of Eden To the Garden of Gethsemane To the garden in your own back yard To the one last finch that sang it’s heart out for you To the one last crow that looked you in the eye To the one last wolf that howled at your death To the one last dog that cried at your death To the one last child who sang This Little Light of Mine But your heart hurts even in death And you become grateful that you never knew Because you denied everything And you died in timelessness To save yourself from ever knowing That you could have saved the child The dog, the wolf, the crow, the finch Because boom you were dead and no longer responsible For the nails in the tree just across from your front yard When you denied everything And said, It’s not my fault I wasn’t there at the time And so you relent and hope The world will understand Because love is not in your vocabulary And you do not understand The world has no time for you And boom Heaven help you at this time
