Boosting business with superfast broadband Businesses in West Looe are invited to a meeting at the Hannafore Point Hotel on Tuesday 22nd October 6pm-8pm to find out how high speed broadband can boost their business. It is also an opportunity to bring like minded people together to network and form a group so business has a stronger voice in the town. Organiser Cllr Edwina Hannaford said, “As a former chair of Looe and Polperro Chamber of Commerce, I know that by working together businesses have a louder voice. They can also benefit by inter-trading; this is especially true when times are tough. I hope businesses will share good ideas and work collectively to the greater good.” Edwina continued, “Businesses will hear about the benefits of Superfast Broadband and how they could access grants from the Superfast Cornwall Fund.” Grants of between £1,000 and £50,000 are available towards 50% of the total cost of the investment in super fast broadband technology. This could include new e-commerce websites, Cloud computing, video-conferencing and/or voice over internet telephone (VoIP) systems or developing a new approach to internet marketing or developing new export markets. Grants could also be used to develop a new business model that is enabled by superfast broadband, business collaboration and virtual teams enabled by superfast broadband and any ideas you have for building your business through superfast broadband! The meeting is sponsored by Hannafore Point Hotel who have donated a room for free and providing teas and coffees. Businesses are encouraged to swap business cards and contacts and will hear about the latest news in the town from Cllr Hannaford including plans to “light up west Looe” for Christmas.
