Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal Design Liaison Team Launches an Informative Website San Juan, PR and Washington, DC - On August 1, 2014, the BCGM Design Liaison Team will launch the Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal Liaison website 65thcgmteam devoted to collect input from all stakeholders interested in submitting ideas for the design of the BCGM. The new website features: • Survey Form that includes a section to provide photo and text ideas that participants feel should be included in the design • Question and Answer page to provide information to participants • Timeline of the design process • News updates from the U.S. Mint, BCGM Design Liaison Team and other sources This website will educate visitors on the accomplishments of the Borinqueneers as they have called themselves since 1950. Puerto Ricans have a rich and distinguished record of military service and a historic legacy of participation in the defense of the United States of America. The Porto Rico Regiment of Infantry was first formed in 1899 and was renamed U.S. 65th Infantry Regiment in 1932. They served gallantly during WWI, WWII and the Korean Conflict. In 1956 the 65th was re-designated as the Puerto Rican National Guard. This historical data will be considered for the design of the BCGM. On August 1, 2014 the website will begin the collection of data for this effort. For information, to participate in this process and to stay informed during the design phase, please visit and register at 65thcgmteam or send an email to input@65thcgmteam
