Born in Jamaica, Carl Harvey recorded as a member of Crack of Dawn and The Aggrovators in the 70s, and went on to become the stellar guitarist for Toots & the Maytals. Harvey was initially inspired by Jimi Hendrix: The first time I heard Purple Haze I knew that I wanted to get a sound from the guitar that I had never heard coming from a straight guitar amp setup.
