Ive heard the 9th a thousand times being from a mid-wester city that boast of having seven German new papers. I thought the 9th would sound anemic on period insrtuments - To my suprise period insrtument brought unexpect clairity. The orchestra was totally up for this performance the energy level high every note seem to jump off the page. most notable was the sensual passion of the third movement - the lagato line was to die for -i ve never heard it more beautiful, yes even with the one sour note from the French horn. The Singers, rivaled the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus flawless. The audience response was beyond enthusiastic- unusual for Boston classical audiences Standing ovation with cheers. move over Burins Crowd. GREAT PERFORMANCE !
