Both my sons were born with the group b strep infection. The first time it was discovered with swabs after a bleed. But when I went to hospital in labour,I was told I wasnt ready .An hour later I was fully dilated, too late for my antibiotics.Reeve was born and was grunting and taken to special care for the next five days ,fighting the infection. This time I explained to everyone what had happened again ,but was told the c section antibiotics would cover the strep risk.Francis was born,I knew immediately he had it as seen it all before, bubbly mouth, blue lips, grunting, caved chest and I told them he needed checking. He was taken to the nicu and was put on cpap, the step infection then developed into pneumonia. He stayed in for ten days and it was a very scary time. Both boys are fine now.I love this awareness group as have many friends who have been through similar too.My boys outcomes could have been so different and all that was needed was the antibiotics as I was known to have the infection. Thanks for reading
