Boy fetch me a cup of coffee. My friends that know me will also - TopicsExpress

Boy fetch me a cup of coffee. My friends that know me will also know of my love for postage stamps. The rest of you will just skip on by this note and thats OK too, but what you will miss is what heroes are made of. What real men are. My favorite stamp of all time and will always be the Four Chaplains. How as officers they gave up their seats on lifeboats on a doomed ship sinking fast in ice filled waters to others. Then they gave up their own life jackets so four others men might have a chance to survive that dark frozen night off the coast of Greenland. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 KJV. They walked the talk. I have bought the stamp, plate block, mint sheet, book, etc on these brave men. I thought I knew the whole story till this afternoon in a little more research I came across Mr Charles Walter David Jr. The story did not end with the sinking of the Chaplins torpedoed ship the Dorchester. All the heros were not yet finished giving everything one can give. Last year the US Coast Guard name a ship in Davids honor, but to me it is not near enough. The man should be place on a postage stamp so that others too may know the kind of man he was. examiner/article/coast-guard-bestows-high-honor-to-african-american-sailor
