Boy slapped as man steals milk August 16, 2013 Police are hunting a man who slapped a young boy after stealing milk from him. It happened around 3.50pm on Wednesday 14 August on the bridge that leads to Rufford Road from the High Street, in Edwinstowe. The eight-year-old victim had cycled to the Co-op in the High Street to buy groceries, including a two-litre carton of milk. As he entered the shop, he noticed a man standing across the road, in the alleyway next to the Black Swan pub. The boy left the shop, walking along the High Street with his shopping and bike, and when he got to the bridge, he was approached by the man who had been in the alleyway next to the pub, who asked if he could have the milk. He refused, but the man grabbed the milk from the boy’s bag, drank from the carton and then slapped him across the face. The suspect then ran off with the milk up High Street and turned left along West Gate. He is described as white, in his early 20s, 6ft 1" tall, of slim build with brown hair that was swept over his left eye. He was wearing a black hooded top pulled over his head and zipped up to hide his face, grey jeans and grey trainers with two yellow stripes on one side and white on the other and orange toes and heels, and orange/brown sunglasses obscuring his eyes. A police spokesperson said: “The victim believes he saw the offender before the attack, standing in an alleyway next to the Black Swan pub. This was an unprovoked attack on a young lad who had been to the local shop. He has been left shaken up by what happened, and we need to find whoever did this.”
