Brain paralyzed girl uses her nose & chin to run online store A brain paralyzed girl from Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, has set a striking example for would-be entrepreneurs, by successfully establishing and growing her online business. What’s even more remarkable is that the only way that she can use the computer is by using her nose and chin. Guo Xiangge has been suffering from brain paralysis since birth. The illness means that she cannot control her limbs and has difficulty speaking. Fortunately, her parents never gave up on her, and helped her learn to live with and think beyond her limitations. As she grew up, Guo felt that she needed to do something to help her parents and repay the debt of their dedication and care. Then in 2007, her brother brought a computer at home and that was the spark of inspiration that Guo needed. Unable to use her hands, she used her nose to type, and her chin to “scroll” on the laptop’s touchpad as the mouse. The family then arranged a special wheelchair for her to use, as she slowly began to get more adept at using the machine. Soon she learned to browse the Internet and expanded her social network – she now has over 100 friends in her ‘circle’ In 2014, she finally established an online shop selling apples, a commodity widely produced in her hometown. And by January 2015, her shop had sold over 350 kg of apples, a figure that has exceeded her wildest expectations.
