Brands Hatch Round 7 This promised to be a great event for Team Anglia Interiors/Insignia Signs. Jamie had been racing in a solo event the week before and had a successful days testing just a few days before this event making good progress with his final set up. Changeable weather but warm was forecast. Arron went out first in the half hour allocated qualification time on a track that was still wet but with a drying line. He opted for dry tyres which in the first few minutes seemed the wrong choice as many others opted for a full wet setup. As the session progressed Arron was able to push a little harder and over take those who had started to suffer with full wets the dry line getting wider by the minute. Tricky conditions that meant over taking was difficult as the wet parts were very slippery. As Jamie went out with 20 minutes left the track was nearly fully dry and his extra test time came into its own holding pole position in class and a top 4 position until the very last minute when TARQUIN from T.WATSON Bikes nipped it by just short of a second an amazing lap from Tarquin who normally languishes further down the field ;-) so we started from 2nd in class and 7 th o/all. The race was dry with threatening showers that came and went Jamie doing the start as usual and getting off the line well circulation with Tanc 2 the Championship leaders capable of finishing the championship off at this round if they were to win closely followed by FIRE IT racing. Its been very close between the three teams all Year. After an hour we were second in class only a few seconds behind charging TANC 2 and 6th o.all with FIRE IT around 10 seconds behind us all very close. Louis from FIRE IT was on a mission really catching fast and riding very well a bit beter than team mate and burger eating champion Andy Goddard, despite his eating habbits Andy`s Ducati was till putting in some class laps and Arron and Andy spent 40 minutes swapping position with Arron eventually getting the better of Andy when they both pitted for a rider change. After 2 hours we were 7th over all and 3rd in class after Louis`s efforts he was catching TANC 2 at a rate of knotts too now only6 seconds behind. Jamie was doing a sterling job for Anglia Interiors/Insignia putting in his fastest laps a 50.09 lap of the Indy circuit. Meanwhile at the front of the field Steve Mercer for Team Traction Control the team owned and run by Keith Flint of The Prodigy fame was flying...circulating mid 47 second laps. IBL racing had drafted in a certain Mr Johnson to partner regular Mark Clark for this event and he too was doing 48`s the National Championship still all to play for!! At the 3 hour finish we managed 3rd in class and 7th o/ll our CLUBMAN 1000 class top 3 split by less than 10 seconds after 3 hours...bloody close racing that and the National 1000 Team Traction Control`s Mercer & Neeves nicked it by a lap ahead of IBL. TANC 2 are the Clubman 1000 champions with a round to go and cannot be beaten with FIRE IT 2nd and Anglia Interiors 3rd. Another podium for the team an now the end of our season which is a shame. Unfortunately due to the closure of Mallory Park only a few days before the event this week and the subsequent drastic measures by Hottrax the organisers to move the event to Pembrey the National Championship is done and dusted and go`s to the leaders Team Traction Control as IBL cannot make the Welsh event along with ourselves and many others at such short notice. Congratulations to Ben Neeves & Steve Mercer on the National Championship. Also congratulations to Grant & Chris for winning the Clubmans. We should finish up 3rd in the CLUBMAN Championship it was possible to catch FIRE IT but we would have needed them to not finish at Mallory and us to win to take second from them.
