Brave Fireman injured in Lotus fire not getting Ambulance service and assistance from BMC? Firemen hv given me information about their Ambulance service. In the lotus bldg incident 16 firemen and officers were admitted In Cooper hospital from 18th and today some of them are getting discharged from hospital. Among of them some firemen are residing in virar and kalyan. Municipal/fire officials r not providing ambulance service till the residences of those firemen who r residing beyond the MCGM limits !!! They were told that it is not permitted by the Bosses of BMC. I am unable to understand that how an injured fireman can reach his residence without assistance and without an ambulance. These fireman hv been told that they should leave the Ambulances at MCGM Check nakas and take Private vehicle from there upto their homes. Is this the way to treat the brave fire men? Last night, there was a fire in a bldg in Vile Parle east n the Firemen there told me that they hv not got safely Suits fr over 3 years. No proper Boots and therefore they suffer burns. The firemen are fighting blazing fire n smoke without proper gear. We wl not even be able to stand at a distance, forget fighting the blazing fire and the heat. I hv just spoken to CFO Mr Verma and he said he is looking into the same. We need to provide the Ambulance assistance to these Firemen today who risk their lives at the Lotus fire. We must also ensure they get proper Safely gear as they risk their lives everyday for us Mumbaikars. Thankfully the Authorities gave them Ambulance service till their homes within 30 min of me taking up the issue...
