Braxton Wayne Beckham Posted: January 09, 2015 - 4:57 pm Braxton Wayne Beckham, 77, of Boston, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at Archbold Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Thomasville on April 18, 1937 to the late Lucious Braxton Beckham and Lilly McKinney Beckham and was a graduate of Thomasville High School. He worked in the mortgage and finance business in several Southern cities before returning to Thomas County in 1972 and worked in the manufactured housing industry until his retirement. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and old Westerns, cooking outdoors, fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, hunting, and riding his golf cart to check on his neighbors, family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Virginia Herring Beckham; four sons and daughters-in-law, Steve (Janice) Beckham and Mark (DeeDee) Beckham, all of Boston; Chris (Stacey) Beckham of Tifton and Russ (Dawn) Beckham of Thomasville; one daughter and son-in-law, Libby (Bill) Bickers of Valdosta; 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William E. Beckham of Montgomery, Ala. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, in the chapel of Allen and Allen Funeral Home with Jimmy Clanton officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, at Allen and Allen Funeral Home. Condolences to the family can be conveyed online at allenfh.
